The event was spread over 3 days (10-12/12/2024, during which stakeholders and representatives of various institutions and departments took stock of the state of progress of the green recovery project in Morocco, focusing on the circular economy as one of the most important milestones in ensuring the transition. The main points discussed included the following: - Emphasize the importance of green recovery to support the transition process of the national economy towards a green, resilient and competitive economy, and enable the Kingdom to achieve its short, medium and long-term development objectives (Agenda 2030 and its 17 SDGs, the NDC, the 2050 Decarbonization Strategy, etc.); - Showcase regional experiences in waste management : collection, sorting, recycling at the Tamelast landfill site, recycling at agricultural plastic waste processing units, etc. ..; - Share Korean expertise, through experts from the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), in particular: the 7 pillars of the circular economy, notably the 3Rs concept, waste management at national level, innovative solutions to promote sorting, recycling, landfilling, incineration, biogas and hydrogen recovery at landfill sites, and waste risk management; - Present the local challenges identified during visits by experts and participants respectively to the Tamelast controlled landfill site and the “Agro plus” association's plastic agricultural waste recovery unit at Sidi Bibi, and call on Korean partners to propose innovative solutions; - Organize discussions between representatives of the Korean Government and local players, in particular with the Secretary General of General Affairs of the Wilaya of Sous Massa, with representatives of the “Agroplus” professional agricultural waste management group and those of the communes, with the aim of examining and proposing possible areas of partnership between the MTEDD, the Korean Government and the Sous Massa region, as a pilot region, for the technical reinforcement of the Tamelast Landfill and Recycling Center project and the creation of a platform for the recycling and recovery of plastic agricultural waste; - Present one of the cooperation projects with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in the field of organic waste Bio-digester and biogas recovery; - Highlight the role that academic and research institutions can play in developing policies and best practices to lay the foundations for the circular economy in the region.
